The start of August sees a new chairman for the independent farmer-owned cooperative United Oilseeds as Lincolnshire farmer Ben Jackson steps up from director to chairman.
Ben has been on the United Oilseeds board of directors for the past 6 years. Previously he spent 10 years in the British Army before joining the family arable farm in 2013. Based in Lincolnshire and north Lincolnshire the farm produces OSR, wheat, barley, peas, and for the past two years hemp.
Discussing his new appointment Ben says: “It’s an honour to step up as chairman of our successful farming cooperative.
“I’m looking forward to supporting our members by ensuring the continued financial success of our cooperative, helping members navigate and make the most of the funding options available, particularly within the SFI, and championing the OSR Reboot being led by Managing Director James Warner and the team.
“I’m under no illusion that there are challenges ahead, however, with a farmer-based board of directors we are well placed to fully understand these challenges and find solutions for ourselves and our members.”
Managing Director James Warner said: “We are delighted that Ben is stepping up as chairman and I have no doubt that he will steer us to continued success well into the future. His farming knowledge and positive approach have been an asset since he joined the board back in 2018.”
