Linseed

Linseed Varieties and Contracts 2025

Linseed is an excellent entry crop for first wheat, offering effective blackgrass control and flexibility in establishment, whether using direct drilling or minimum tillage. It can be planted with a companion crop, under CIPM3, with payment rates at £55 per hectare, and/or CIPM4, no use of insecticide paying £45 per hectare. High-performing linseed varieties are available, supported by an established supply chain that serves a range of markets.

Through close collaborations with seed breeders, we offer top varieties tailored to UK conditions. With shorter straw height and lower fibre content, this ensures exceptional harvestability and minimal combine downtime.

This newly recommended linseed variety stands out on the AHDB Recommended List with an exceptional gross output and consistently high yields proven in trials. Its early maturity offers flexibility in rotations, reducing weather-related harvest risks.

Notably, it boasts the highest Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA) content among the top ten varieties, enhancing its value for premium markets. With growing demand for ALA-rich oils in Europe, this variety could offer opportunities for growers to access new markets while benefiting from its agronomic strengths and reliability in the field.

Bingo is a high-yielding linseed variety that has gained popularity across the UK due to its excellent agronomic characteristics. With a seed yield of 109% of controls and a ranking of number two on the AHDB Recommended List, Bingo stands out as a reliable choice for growers. First listed in 2017, this variety combines early maturity with strong disease resistance, making it a practical option for those looking to optimise both yield and harvest timing.

One of Bingo’s key strengths is its robust disease resistance, particularly its good tolerance to mildew and strong resistance to fusarium. Additionally, its stiff straw provides improved lodging resistance, ensuring better standability in the field. These traits, along with its proven performance, make Bingo a dependable variety for linseed growers aiming for both high productivity and ease of management.
