While many OSR trial sites didn’t make it through this year, for those that did No 1 UK variety Aurelia has returned some excellent results, particularly in the north.
Aurelia has been the number 1 selling hybrid OSR for a while now, and for good reason. As in previous years Aurelia has shown consistent performance across all trial sites keeping pace with all of the top varieties.
The table above highlights particular strength in the northernmost trials with Aurelia ranked against all varieties in 1st for Midlothian, 2nd in Northumberland and 3rd in Fife. Compared to Adeline and Wagner, two popular varieties in the north, Aurelia ranks 1st, 1st and 2nd.
So why choose Aurelia this year?
Aurelia remains the number 1 variety in the market accounting for the most sales by variety. With a gross output of 117, 112 and 109 across the three sites mentioned above, it’s definitely holding it’s own.
TuYV and Pod Shatter, combined with one of the highest scores available for light leaf spot resistance are also an appealing factor.
With its proven autumn and spring vigour and track record for overall strong performance across all regions Aurelia continues to hold it’s own and out compete many of the newer varieties.
